Since making the transition from radio announcing to voice acting I have found that there is an incredible amount of work available out there if you know where to look.  The issue is, there are also many other fine voice actors trying to get that work as well.

It’s easy to get discouraged when you audition for hundreds of jobs with nothing to show for it.  However, I am thankful that my coaches at Voice Coaches taught me from the get go that you need to keep at it.  Many people drop out or give up when they don’t see results in a few weeks, or months or maybe even a year.  I still have a long way to go, but one thing I’ve learned is not to give up.

I didn’t have to wait too long to land my first couple of jobs, but I have had to wait a long time in between before things picked up again.  During this time I read, listened and practiced a lot.  While I still have a long way to go, I’ve recently been landing lots of great work.  From radio and TV commercials to gps voice overs  and telephone/on messages to my latest job a children’s audio book.  I don’t have the biggest voice out there.  I don’t even think that my voice is all that unique, but I do believe I’m learning and improving my craft in voice acting more everyday.  That along with lots of prayer and persistance is helping me to land more jobs all the time.

I thank those pros out there who have been so encouraging like my friend Pete Bunch of Spoken Word Images, Michelle Summers of VOplanet and of course Voice Coaches and all of you voice actors out there that have been willing to be so helpful to those learning this business.

So, what’s the point?  If you love what you do, keep working at it and don’t give up!
